What the World Needs Now… Respect

In my last post in this series, “Let Us Change the World!”, I reflected upon the role of education in bringing about positive change in the world through a quote by Nelson Mandela. His words were spoken in the context of a speech he made to students in Boston in 1990 to encourage them to remain in school and help transform the world into a better place. We Know So Little of Each Other

William Edward Burghart Du Bois (1868-1963) was an African-American scholar, author, socialist and political activist. He was the very first person of colour to earn a doctorate degree in the United States. Du Bois was a founding father of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) in 1909. He opposed racism and bigotry in all of its ugly forms and believed that education was the key to achieving the goals of full rights and liberties under the law. It’s Okay… Share Your Happy!
