* 1784 – Governor Haldimand settles Loyalist refugees at Cataraqui – now Kingston – and the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario.
In the year 1784, military and loyalist claimants began to settle on land located on the newly-surveyed townships along the northern shore of the St. Lawrence River.
