RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB’S NOVEMBER “SPOTLIGHT” AUTHOR Blog

Please give my colleague and friend, D.L. Finn, a warm welcome as RRBC’s November “Spotlight” Author! D.L. is an accomplished author across several literary genres and today she is featuring her book of poetry called, Just Her Poetry.

Thank you for having me on your blog for day three of the Just Her Poetry Spotlight Tour!

Finn Facts:

They walked on the moon on my 7th birthday

I write poetry while sitting on the back of a Harley.

Blurb:

Take a journey with D.L. Finn as she blends her love of nature with her deepest emotions. Sit with her on the forest floor observing its tranquil beauty, or stroll along the ocean’s shore admiring the vastness of its horizon. Here in these peaceful moments, you’ll be able to experience her thoughts and feelings in the light—and in the darkness. This is a thought-provoking collection of poetry that invites the reader into all the seasons of a soul.

Excerpt from Just Her Poetry: MUSING FROM THE BACK OF A HARLEY

FALL RIDE

The landscape is filled with tall evergreens.

Red peeks through winking at us.

Temporary signs on the side of the street…

Offer apples, pies, and cider to hungry travelers.

The air is chilled in anticipation…

Of winter’s coming frost.

Riding through the changing scene…

I realized I’m changing with it.

Carefree in my moment…

Before the holidays.

I remember.

I remember I’m grateful to be here.

Seeing all the changes…

And becoming them, too.

D.L. Finn is an independent California local who encourages everyone to embrace their inner child. She was born and raised in the foggy Bay Area, but in 1990 relocated with her husband, kids, dogs, and cats to the Sierra foothills in Nevada City, CA. She immersed herself in reading all types of books but especially loved romance, horror, and fantasy. She always treasured creating her own reality on paper. Finally, being surrounded by towering pines, oaks, and cedars, her creativity was nurtured until it bloomed. Her creations vary from children’s books, young adult fantasy, and adult paranormal romance to an autobiography with poetry. She continues on her adventures with an open invitation for her readers to join her.

  1. Beautiful words, Denise. I love the mention of apples, pies, and cider. I live in the heart of apple country. Even the mention conjures images inside my mind. Best wishes.

    Thanks for hosting, John.

    1. They are beautiful words, Beem. However, I’m finding it hard to think of images of fall while in the clutches Old Man Winter here. Thanks for supporting Denise!

    1. I have a small journal to write in that I keep in my pocket and two pens in case I drop one. I haven’t yet! I use my husband’s back as a table and write what I’m seeing. I always wonder what a car driving by must think I’m doing…lol.

    1. Thanks, Ron. I didn’t grow up with all the colors in the Bay Area, so it’s exciting to me every year I live in a place with the four seasons.

  2. I love this poem, Denise. I’ve lived in Florida for the past 31 years, and before that, I lived in Panama for 3 years, so it’s been a LONG time since I’ve been able to enjoy the changing of the seasons. Your poem took me right back to those moments, so thank you! 🙂 Thanks for hosting her, John! 🙂

    1. Well, Yvette, I’d trade you our weather here in Ontario, but I’d rather have the cold and snow over hurricanes! Thanks for supporting Denise!
